The Sounders FC continues to set records for attendance. Not only are they the top dog when it comes to drawing a crowd in the U.S. but they would also fair pretty well if they were to play in the premier leagues in the entire world.
CenturyLink will be packed for what is the finale regular season game of the season for the Sounders. One factor for the huge spike in attendance can be attributed to Sounders captain and goalkeeper Kasey Keller playing his last regular season match. Keller is set to retire and many fans surely want to see him off properly.
Tickets sales for Sounders FC’s regular-season home finale Saturday against San Jose have topped 62,000. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
“I think it’s a great reflection of our fans understanding what’s happening and what’s going on,” said coach Sigi Schmid of what will be one the largest crowds in MLS history. “If you don’t have a ticket yet, you need to get one, because it’s going to be a special event.”
Not only is Keller responsible for the massive crowd, the fact that the club has won three U.S. Open Cups in three years is a remarkable feet that deserves major recognition from the fantastic Seattle sports community.
The Sounders will make the playoffs again this season and anything short of a title will be a disappointment, not only for the 62,000 plus at the match, but for the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Sounders supporters across the world.
