Tez Tez Hears the Hall Call

The Seahawks will have one more bust to boast in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH this summer, and the Hall had better make plenty of room in that case; this bust is going to be a big one.

Seattle Seahawks’ legendary defensive tackle Cortez “Tez” Kennedy was elected to the 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame as announced today in Indianapolis, IN, alongside 2012 inductees  Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Curtis Martin and Willie Roaf.

“It was one of the greatest feelings in the world when my name got called out,” offered a humbled Kennedy on the phone with NFL Network from his home in Orlando. “It was a long process.” But in his fourth year as a finalist for the honor, the call has finally come.

Kennedy spent all 11 seasons of his NFL career in Seattle after being selected third overall by Seattle in 1992 out of the University of Miami. His eight Pro Bowl selections are second most in Seahawks history, giving way only to Walter Jones’ nine. Not bad company for Kennedy at the top as Jones is a likely candidate for the Hall in the coming years. Kennedy also has five First Team All-Pro selections under his belt.

‎”I’m so happy for the Seahawks organization. The coaches I had. The other guys I played with. The fans. Everyone I came into contact with during my career there,” shared Kennedy after finally hearing his name called.

“This is a great day, and I’m happy to share it with everyone.”

 Tez Hears the Hall Call

Paul Novak

I’ve been a huge fan of the Seahawks and Mariners since childhood. Raised in downtown Seattle just minutes from the sports heaven that was the Kingdome. I remember seeing the dust spread over the city from my apartment window when they blew it up. I swear a single tear rolled down my face as I watched. The day either team wins it all will be the day I can die a happy man. Go Hawks!
