Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested in Oakland on suspicion of DUI on Saturday. Lynch has had multiple run-in’s with law enforcement. Roger Goodell, who is know for his swift and harsh punishments is expected to take action against the Seahawks’ most important offensive weapon.
OAKLAND — NFL star and former Oakland Tech and Cal football player Marshawn Lynch was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday and taken to Santa Rita Jail, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Lynch, 26, who plays for the Seattle Seahawks, was arrested after a traffic stop on Interstate 880 in Oakland, according to CHP spokesman Hector Baiza. Lynch was taken to Santa Rita Jail, where he was cited and released, according to Alameda County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Raymond Kelly.
The five-year NFL veteran was cooperative and submitted to a blood test once he was in custody, Baiza said. Lynch’s blood-alcohol level was over the .08 limit, Baiza added, though he declined to specify the exact measurement.
Lynch was in Oakland last week to award a scholarship to recent high school graduate through his Fam 1st Family Foundation.
The All-American running back was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2010.
Lynch’s drivers license was revoked in 2008 after he pleaded guilty to “failing to exercise due care toward a pedestrian.” Lynch said he was unaware that he had struck a woman outside a Buffalo, NY, bar at 3:30 a.m.
Lynch, a two-time Pro Bowler, was also suspended for three games in the 2009 season after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge.
