Three days ago Forbes published their list of the 50 Most Valuable Sports Franchises. The top spot went to English Premiere League club, Manchester United. United was estimated as being worth $2.23 billion dollars. 19% more than Real Madrid, who came in second.

Though the top two spots were held by soccer clubs, each of the 32 NFL teams made an appearance on the list. The Dallas Cowboys were the highest placing franchise, valued at $1.85 billion. The New York Yankees were the top MLB franchise, tying the Cowboys for third.

The Seattle Seahawks came in 25th.

In March, the Seahawks inked Matt Flynn, who was one of the most sought after free agent quarterbacks in 2012. Career backup Flynn raised his value when he threw for six touchdowns and 480 yards in the final game of the Packers season, when Aaron Rodgers sat out. Flynn’s deal is worth $26 million over three years.

I’ve been a huge fan of the Seahawks and Mariners since childhood. Raised in downtown Seattle just minutes from the sports heaven that was the Kingdome. I remember seeing the dust spread over the city from my apartment window when they blew it up. I swear a single tear rolled down my face as I watched. The day either team wins it all will be the day I can die a happy man. Go Hawks!
