The Mariners have announced that they have released Jack Cust after designating him for assignment last week. Greg Halman was also sent down to AAA Tacoma and it is very likely that the Mariners will be calling up their newest outfielder, Trayvon Robinson.
Robinson is only 23 and has been hitting well in AAA thus far. While with the Dodger and Seattle organizations, Robinson has a .289 avg with an OPS of .929. Playing plenty of centerfields, it’s safe to assume the Mariners want to see what he can do with Franklin Gutierrez still struggling. Guti has slowly been improving, however, going 6 for 13 in the last 4 games.
Halman was sent down because he, along with most of the team has been in a slump, going just 2 for 25 in his last ten games played.
