Default New Michigander

Apologies for my general quietness over the last couple of weeks. I've been boxing my life up and have managed to drive the whole shebang out to Western Michigan. So, I'm no longer a Seattle-ite. Mixed feelings on that for sure.

There's no MLS team here in the "mitten", closest of any actual tolerance is the Crew (I can't ever in good conscience support a Chicago team). I'm going to miss my Sounders, and they'll always be exactly that. MY Sounders. Sporting loyalty is big with me, so while the 7pm kickoff is now a 10pm one for me, I'll be glued to the TV whenever they're broadcast on whatever channel they may be.

One bennie - I no longer have to wake up at the crack of "Are you efffin' KIDDING ME!?" to watch my beloved Hibs! Crack of 7ish or so, but that beats crack of 4am or so.

So lady and gents, I'm not a local boy any more. I don't know whether that means that someone more appropriate should take the reigns of "Sounders Guru" or not... I'd respect any decision on that front.

You're the Sounder Guru.
I'm the local guy who gets to PICK the Sounder Guru now that he has left the state. And you're still him.

I read a book across those two states. No need to actually turn the steering wheel, after all. lol

Actually, it's very pretty, if a little repetitious. I did have some good audiobooks, and I had a few one-sided arguments to talk radio when I could get it.
Seattle to Missoula day 1.
Missoula to Buffalo Wyoming day 2. (had Bison for dinner - was great!)
Buffalo to Sioux City SD day 3.
Sioux City to Princeton, IL day 4.
Princeton to Grand Rapids, about a 4.5 hour finish.

Pretty uneventful. Lotta audiobook work (Finished the Foundation Trilogy, listened to "Why We Suck" by Denis Leary, Finished the last 60 minutes of "Atlas Shrugged", and then started and got about 3/4 through "Lamb" by Christopher Moore. Pretty nice way to cross the country.

I'm a little dissapointed. I would have made that drive in about 24 hours with only a 1 or 2 hour nap.

It is good to have you back. SSC needs it's Sounders Guru.

I was driving a bloody 24' truck! It woulda been impossible to do in 24 hours! Max speed (even downhill) was 70, and let's not talk about going uphill... heh!

The memory of the trip, lengthy as it was, has nearly faded. The persistent buzzing in my ear from sitting on top of a poorly sound-insulated moving truck cab perched on a poorly bushed diesel has almost faded as well.

My advice? If you decide to undertake something of this nature, have someone else do the heavy lifting. Make the trip in a leisurely fashion in your own car or squeezed into a flight across the country.
